welcome to the st marg's chamber ensemble blog:)
the CHAMBER ENSEMBLE was a merger of E-orch and string ensemble.
String ensemble was set up in the year 2003 and was formed only with 7 girls!!!! Currently(Year:2006), after merging with e-orchestra
Rite now,we have more than 40 students in the cca..we are working hard towards our goal: SYF 2007 to acheive a silver.That will be our first SYF!!!
Also,we would like to thank our seniors for all their hardwork and if not for them,chamber ensemble would not be what it is today.And not forgetting,MS TAN & MS YING!!!! our teachers-in-charge.
Formed in 2001, the Electronic Orchestra (E-orchestra for short) is a modern ensemble completely made up of electronic keyboards. The E- Orchestra draws its members mostly from students with background in piano playing who show a definite interest in ensemble playing. The E-Orchestra boasts a repertoire that includes classical as well as light pieces that range from jazz to popular music, reflecting its versatility. The E-Orchestra is proud to be the only one of its kind in schools in Singapore .
Over the past 4 years, this unique CCA has progressed rapidly and contributed greatly to the cultural scene in the school. After its debut in the Teacher’s Day celebrations in 2001, the E-orchestra went on to play a significant role in the school's 160th Anniversary Celebrations. Following that, it has performed in a variety of occasions, such as CCA Fairs, Speech Day concerts, the 2002 SMSS Alumni Thanksgiving Dinner, and in shopping centres during Christmas. In 2003, it made a guest appearance in the Polka! II Concert at the Esplanade. In 2004 it participated in the ITMAP (music technology) Competition organized by Music Tec and clinched the first prize. At the cluster level, our girls have also been actively involved in the 2004 and 2005 South Zone Cluster Arts Festival hosted by St. Margaret’s Secondary School.
Last march holiday( 10-12) the seniors and chamber mates have organised a camp specially for the new chamber mates(sec1s).We've conducted many interesting activities such as musicianship skills for all the memebers.Overall,everyone enjoyed themselves.
